Text Block Stitching

1. Make sure you have an even number of holes in each signature. Add another hole with an awl or teasing needle if needed.

2. Begin sewing with the bottom signature, going in the backside of the bottom hole and ending coming out of the backside of the top hole.

3. Go in the backside of the top hole of the next signature and end coming out of the backside of the bottom hole, linking to the bottom signature all the while. Knot the bottom two signatures together.

4. Link each additional signature. When you get to the end of each signature, slip the needle beneath the signature beneath it, twist a loop twice, then knot the topmost signature to those beneath it.

5. When stitching is finished, put the text block in a book press, swab a thick layer of uncut glue onto the spine, and let dry overnight.
