Plastic Covers

Hard Plastic Covers

1. Place the plastic cover on the back cover about ½” from the edge of the spine, smoothing with a bone folder.

2. Place the plastic cover on the front cover about ½” from the edge of the spine, smoothing with a bone folder.

3. Wrap the thin plastic around the spine and smooth with a bone folder.

4. Trim the plastic cover with scissors, but be careful not to cut into the book's cover.

Soft Plastic Covers

1.  Place the book or score onto the back of an unrolled sheet of laminate and mark on the grid to cut 2 equal pieces for the front and back covers (including an extra 2” to wrap around the cover's edge) and 1 piece to wrap around the spine that will overlap the covers by about 1 ½” on each side.

2.  Place the plastic cover on the back cover about ½” from the edge of the spine. Smooth with a bone folder as you slowly pull off the laminate backing, working from the spine to the fore edge. Doing these simultaneously will help to reduce bubbles.

3.  When you have reached the fore edge and have about 2” of laminate left, open the back cover and wrap the rest of the laminate around the cover's edge and smooth it to the inside of the cover.

4.  Repeat for the front cover.

5.  Place the laminate piece for the spine onto the front cover overlapping the front cover laminate piece by about 1 ½”.

6.  Smooth it with a bone folder and wrap the rest of the spine piece over and around the spine onto the back cover, smoothing it all the while.

7.  Trim the plastic cover with scissors, but be careful not to cut into the book's cover.
