Hinge Repair
1. Pull up the pastedown about 1” from the hinge.
2.
Cut a piece of cambric about ½” shorter than the length of the spine of the text block and about 2” wide.
3. Glue half of the width of the cambric onto the spine of the text block.
4. Glue the other half of the width of the cambric onto the exposed board.
5. Glue the pastedown onto the exposed cambric.
6. Glue the pastedown into the hinge. Apply a thin line of glue to the
fly leaf near the hinge to stick it to the first page of the text block.
7. Place the book on a small piece of plywood, slide
appropriately-sized clean knitting needles into the creases, and place
weights on top of the spine. Let the glue dry overnight.
