Boxes for Paperback Books
(Use for hardcover books 1” or less in depth
and for all paperback books)
1. Measure the height and width of the book.
2.
Choose two pieces of box material based on the height and width
measurements. Be sure the piece is equal to or greater than one
measurement and about three times that of the other measurement.
3. Trim the horizontal piece to fit the height of the book.
4. Place the book in the middle of the horizontal piece and mark the perforations for the depth of the book.
5. Use a ruler and tapered bone to crease these perforations.
6. Trim the ends of the horizontal piece so that they fall about ½” from each edge.
7. Trim the vertical piece to fit the width of the book.
8. Place the book in the middle of the vertical piece and mark the perforations for the depth of the book.
9. Use a ruler and tapered bone to crease these perforations.
10. Trim the ends of the vertical piece so that they overlap for about 2 inches. They do not have to reach to the edges.
11. Glue the horizontal piece over the vertical piece.
12. Weigh the box and allow it to dry.
13.
Glue Velcro fasteners into place on the horizontal piece, about ½” from
the head and tail and ½” from the fore-edge of the book.
