Boxes for Hardcover Books
(Use for hardcover books over 1” in depth)
1.
Measure the height, width, and depth of the book. Be sure to
accommodate a bowed spine or lopsided covers when measuring the width.
Measure the depth at the book's thickest point.
2. Add 1/8” to all measurements.
3. Following the
diagram, draw lines using the height, width, and depth measurements.
4. Following the
diagram, cut out extraneous pieces not needed.

Use a tapered bone and ruler to crease and fold corrugate board
material as shown on the diagram. Crease the bottom and spine of the
box on the lines drawn. Crease the top of the box about 1/8” outside
the lines.
6. Place the book into the box to make sure it fits.
7. Glue the tabs for the top and bottom of the box and use a Teflon bone to secure them to the sides.
8. Place the book in the box with its spine up against the fore-edge of the box.
9. Place the box on its fore-edge and let dry for at least four hours.
