Glue the date-due slip to the last page on the left side.
- If the endpaper contains intellectual content, then stamp the first blank page,
preferance to the left-side pages.
- If no pages are blank, then place book on shelf for
Cook Library- Main Campus- Reference Materials
Reference Materials- Reference materials will have pink flags and will have "Ref" on their spine labels. Process as described above except:
- Never obscure any printed information with the spine label.
This includes volume numbers, publisher information, author, and title.
- Do not place date-due slip in back of book. Stamp the inside of the back cover "Does not circulate."
- If the end paper is dark-colored, then stamp a white label and affix the label to the back inside cover.
Cook Library-Main Campus- Juvenile Materials
Juvenile Materials- Juvenile materials housed on the second floor of
Cook Library will have yellow flags and will have "Juv" on their spine labels.
Process as a regular Cook collection item.
Gulf Coast Library, Curriculum Lab & Media Center (USMGC)- Gulf Coast Campus- General Collection

USMGC- These materials have light green flags.
Please note that paperback books, books with software, spiral-bound items, and
books stapled at the spine
require additional processing. Follow same procedures as Cook Library
Regular Collection and Reference Materials as is appropriate excepting
the following:
- Stamp with the "Robert M. Cox" property stamp on two edges of the book.
Stamp the top with the front of the book facing you and stamp the side with the
front of the book facing away from you.
- Stamp
with the "Robert M. Cox" property stamp on the inside front cover (left
side page) if the page is blank. Otherwise use clear space on the
following left-side page.
If the end paper is dark, stamp a white label and attach the label to the page.
- Verify the spine label and OPAC record for the item before mailing to USMGC.
- Box USMGC books together and address to the Head of Collection Development
at USM-GC Library. The shuttle to the Coast leaves from the Cook Mail Room
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11am.

- Do NOT affix a security target. The McCain Library staff applies a unique security system.
- Send books and serials to third floor reading room of McCain for verification.

The Cataloging Associate for Mississippiana will print call number, author and title on an acid-free slip.
- State Documents- Spine label Prefix is "Miss". These items receive call number labels, and "Does Not Circulate" stamps only. Send to McCain.
