In bibliographic records for all theses (dissertations, master’s, honors, and bachelor’s), include a 710 for the academic department or school. 710 |a is for the university name. 710 |b is preceded by a period and is for the department or school name. End the field with a period. The word “department” is abbreviated “Dept.”

710 2_ University of Southern Mississippi. |b Dept. of English.
710 2_ University of Southern Mississippi. |b School of Mass Communication and Journalism.

For honors theses, include a second 710 field for the Honors College.
