SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
FOR CATALOGING VIDEORECORDINGS FOR THE MEDIA CENTER
- A MARC record is searched and retrieved from OCLC. Record is edited either online, on a printout, or a new record is created as needed. AV workforms are available for original cataloging.
- Catalog and/or item number of videorecording is to be place in tag 028, with indicators 40. This number can most often be found on the side of the videocassette container.
- Tag 049 MUSH is changed to MUST for Hattiesburg campus or MLAC [Media] for Gulf Coast campuses items.
- All videorecordings are assigned an LC call number. Check in the library catalog to fit cuttering in the online shelflist. See also Class/Cuttering Audio-visual Series and Classifying Feature Films for more information.
