Southern Judaism: the Mississippi Experience.

A wine bottle floats through space.

Southern Judaism: the Mississippi Experience explores the history and culture of the Mississippi Jewish community. Mississippi has a rich relationship with its Jewish community, from the state’s settlement to the civil rights movement extending to the current day.

On display are pamphlets collected by prominent Mississippi politicians, books highlighting Jews in the South, brochures from various Jewish organizations and other documents displaying aspects of Jewish life and history in the region.

The exhibit is on display in the Cleanth Brooks Reading Room (Room 305) in McCain Library & Archives Monday-Friday until August 2. Hours are 9-4. If you have questions about the exhibit, contact Jennifer Brannock at or 601.266.4347.
