Services for Students
University Libraries provides a wide range of services to Southern Miss students. Students have full access to all print and electronic resources in the Libraries' collections, including: books, journals, videos, music, and more. Use the links below to learn about specific services available to you.
Circulation - information about service eligibility, loan periods, renewals, overdue fines, lost or damaged items, and related information
Course Reserves - students have access to electronic and physical items placed on reserve by their instructors
Interlibrary Loan - use the ILLiad system to request delivery of articles and loans of books and other materials from other libraries
Mississippi University Library Borrowing Program - request a MUL borrowing card to gain on-site borrowing privileges at any of seven other university library systems in Mississippi
Remote or Off-Campus Access - access the Libraries' electronic resources from anywhere
Ask-a-Librarian - receive information and research assistance via e-mail or chat
Consultations - schedule a research consultation with a librarian
Library Instruction - schedule a workshop with a librarian for your student organization, study group, etc.

Technical and Collection Development Services
Order Inquiry - ask about a book, journal, or other resource listed in the library catalog as on order or in process
Suggest a Purchase - recommend purchase of a book, video, journal, or other item
Catalog Error Report - report a problem with a record in the library catalog
Faxing and Scanning - send a fax or have pages scanned and sent to an e-mail address
Research Carrels - rent a research carrel for a semester
Library Forms - link to all University Libraries forms from one convenient location
Speaking and Writing Centers
As part of the University's Quality Enhancement Plan, the Southern Miss Speaking Center and Writing Center were created to improve oral and written communication skills across the university. The centers are located within the libraries on both the Hattiesburg and Gulf Coast campuses.
