Document Delivery (20 min)

Description: A quick introduction to the services offered through Document Delivery: InterLibrary Loans, Campus to Campus Loans, Eagle Express Article Delivery (fee service), and Eagle Express Hold/Delivery.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this session, students should know:
  • Where and how to access Document Delivery (DD) services
  • That DD is used to retrieve materials not owned by USM Libraries
  • That students can have materials delivered from the Gulf Coast Campus or Hattiesburg through DD
  • That Eagle Express Article Delivery is a fee service

Reserves (5 min)

Description: A quick overview of what Reserves are and how to access physical, online and media Reserves.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this session, students should know:
  • How to access Reserves in the library's Catalog and find a reserve item in a particular course (either by instructor name or course ID)
  • How to access an online Reserve item using the given url
  • How to recognize a Reserves item as online, physical, media, or Gulf Coast
  • Where in the library to go to access a physical or media Reserve item

My Library Account (5 min)

Description: A quick overview of how to create and access a "My Library Account"
Objectives:
Upon completion of this session, students should know:
  • What a PIN code is and where to get a PIN for My Library Acct.
  • How to access their account in the library's catalog to:
    • Change their PIN code
    • Renew a book
    • Check their account for books checked out, due dates, fines, etc.

Laptop/DVD/VHS player checkouts (5 min)

Description: A quick informational session on where and how to checkout the libraries' laptops and portable DVD and VHS players
Objectives:
Upon completion of this session, students should know:
  • That they may check out laptops from Cook and Gulf Coast Circulation Desks for a fee
  • That they may go up to 2nd Floor South, in Cook Library, to check out portable DVD and VHS players for no fee
