Formatting your Reference List in Microsoft Word 2007
< < Back to Section 3. Citing Sources in APA Style
Setting Up the Page
- Begin your reference list on a separate page at the end of your paper, under
the label References (with no quotation marks, underlining, etc.). Center
this heading at the top of the page.
- Citations appear alphabetically by author's last name. (If the work has no author listed, alphabetize
it by its title).
- Use a hanging indent for each citation. In a hanging indent, the first line of each citation is even with the margin, all subsequent lines of the citation are indented.
Example of a Reference List
To set up a hanging indent in Word 2007:
Step 1: Select Paragraph
Step 2: From the box that pops up, look for "Special" and choose "Hanging."
