Register for E-Struction Return to The University Libraries "Find Items" section

Introduction
E-struction is an email instruction program which will introduce participants to a range of electronic library resources.  The series of lessons will be emailed to the participants upon registration.

The series of lessons include:

• Introduction to ANNA, the Library Catalog
• General Tutorial for Finding Articles from a Database
• How to Retrieve Articles
• Plagiarism
• Formating and Citing in MLA Style
• Formating and Citing in APA Style
• Research Literature Basics

What is Needed to Participate?

If you are doing these lessons from your home computer (off-campus), you will need your SOAR login and password to access the library's online databases. A PIN# is helpful, but not absolutely necessary, to complete the ANNA tutorial. A PIN# is required to access certain library services reviewed in the tutorial. If you do not have a PIN#, you can obtain one by submitting an online PIN Request Form.

USM Libraries adapted this E-struction program from the LOUIS E-struction, a program developed by UNO and LSU. The LOUIS Home Page outlines steps to implement the program at other institutions including a timeline, promotional materials, and text files of their tutorials.
