Biographical Sketch
Ada Graham was born on August 22, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio. She attended both the Bowling Green State University and Hunter College were she earned a bachelor's degree in 1957. She was a public school teacher in New York and Maine until 1970. In 1971, she founded the Narraguagus Child Development Association.

Frank Graham, Jr. was on March 31, 1925 in New York, New York. He received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1950. He worked for the New York Sun as a copy boy during the summers of 1947-1949. In 1951, he became the publicity director for the Brooklyn Dodgers and went on to become the assistant managing editor for the magazine Sport.

Frank and Ada Graham were married in 1953, but it was not until 1969 that they decided to work together writing books. As a team, the couple has written many books about ecology, conservation, and nature. They wrote a group of six books for the National Audubon Society about alligators, whales, falcons, coyotes, insects, and bears. Individually, Frank Graham has also written books for adults and juveniles about sports, conservation and ecology.

Scope and Content
The collection contains typescripts, galleys, proofs, and correspondence for 15 titles. The materials are arranged alphabetically by title. Within each title the materials are arranged in the probable order in which they were created. The correspondence is separated by title and arranged chronologically.

The first group is from the "Audubon Reader's Series" that was sponsored by the National Audubon Society. All of the books were illustrated by D.D. Tyler and published by Delacorte Press. There is correspondence with the Audubon Society and Delacorte and a proposal for the series. There is also correspondence and a contract for each of the 6 titles. There are typescripts and galleys for Bears in the Wild (1981), Falcon Flight (1978), and Coyote Song (1978), and typescripts and proofs for Alligators (1979), Bug Hunters (1978), and Whale Watch (1978).

With the exception of Sportswriter (1967), the other published books are about conservation, science and ecology. There are typescripts and galleys or proofs for all these titles. There are black and white photographs for Birds of the Northern Seas (1981) and Three Million Mice (1981), an informational books about the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine. There are cassette tapes of interviews with conservationists at the National Audubon Society for Careers in Conservation (1981) and rubber band manufacturers for The Big Stretch (1985). There are also extensive research materials from pamphlets, articles, and newspapers for The Careless Animal (1975), Busy Bugs (1983), and The Milkweed and Its World of Animals (1976). In 1967, Frank Graham worked with Stanley Woodward on Sportswriter (1967). There are typescripts, galleys and proofs for this title.
