Biographical Sketch:

Art Seiden was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1923.  After receiving his B.A. from Queens College (NY), he enrolled at The Art Students League of New York, where he studied for eight years.  Seiden worked in the field of advertising in his early career, and could list Phillip Morris and General Motors among his clients.

When he began illustrating for children, his first assignment was creating the artwork for Margaret Wise Brown and Jean H. Berg’s Three Mice and A Rat in 1950. Writing and illustrating his own work began in 1953 with the publication of My ABC Book from Wonder Books.  Overall, Seiden illustrated more than 22 of his own books, and over 300 books for other authors.

Art Seiden passed away in July of 2004.
