Biographical Note

Martin Charlot was born in Athens, Georgia, on March 6, 1944, to Jean and Zohmah (Day) Charlot. His French father, an internationally famous fresco painter who taught at the University of Hawaii, taught his sons art from an early age. Martin Charlot attended high schools in New York City and Hawaii and, although his father never encouraged him to become an artist, began painting as a career right after finishing high school. He is best known as a painter of finely detailed murals and oil paintings characterized by their vibrant colors. He also has lectured at universities, written screenplays, directed films, created commercial art, and illustrated books for both children and adults. He lives in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
