Number of authors and illustrators: 1200+
Volume of original materials: 5000 cubic feet in over 10,000 containers
The de Grummond
Collection was established with the purpose of preserving the
manuscripts and artwork of the creators of children's and young
adult literature. These manuscripts, illustrations, galleys,
dummies, correspondence, and fan mail document the entire creative
process of this unique literature.
Several
Access Grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities
have supported the arrangement and description of many of
our most prestigious collections of original materials. To
date approximately 400 Finding Aids have been published on
our web page. Additionally, bibliographic information regarding
the manuscripts and illustrations is included in the OCLC
and RLIN databases.
For a
listing of all authors and illustrators whose materials are
held by the de Grummond Collection, please see the Finding
Aid Index. Unfortunately, all collections have not been
fully processed and only processed collections have a finding
aid. Those authors and illustrators whose names appear as
active links on the register have a finding aid. The names
that are not active links have yet to be processed.
A listing
of all authors and illustrators whose original materials are
housed in the de Grummond Collection can be found in the 3rd
edition of Special Collections in Children's Literature
(ALA Editions, 1995).
