Currently the Collection is seeking endowments to enable us
to process and maintain more than 1250 collections of archived
original materials and provide electronic access to them for
researchers on our webpage. Of these original collections
only about 475 have been processed to date with funding provided
for this work by three National Endowment for the Humanities
grants in 1990-92; 1997-99; and 2001-03.
Funded
primarily through appropriations from the Mississippi legislature,
the de Grummond Children's Literature Collection would not
be able to carry out its mission of collecting, preserving
and providing access to the best in children's literature
year after year if it were not for the generosity of our contributors
and donors, publishers and friends throughout the United States
and the world.
Annually
we receive gifts of books, original materials, illustrations
and monetary contributions from hundreds of indivduals and
companies who feel, as we do, that preserving our history
and culture through children's literature is a worthwhile
endeavor.
