Form of Material:

Dr. Thomas Daniel Young was Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of English at Vanderbilt University from 1972 to 1985 and a distinguished scholar of Southern literature. From 1950 to 1957 he served as professor and chairman of the English Department at The University of Southern Mississippi. His biography of John Crowe Ransom, Gentleman in a Dustcoat, won the Jules Landry Award in 1970.

Research materials, drafts, and manuscripts of Dr. Young's writings on John Crowe Ransom, Malcolm Cowley, John Peale Bishop, Allen Tate, Donald Davidson, and Sidney Lanier.
