Typescripts of letters written by Jacob and Alexander Vanasdall (also spelled Vanasdale) to their brother, Levi, during the Civil War. The brothers, farm boys from Perry County, Pennsylvania, served in the 16th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Their letters reflect camp life in Pennsylvania; Maryland; Virginia; Washington, D.C.; and Illinois.
