Form of Material:

A collection of materials by, and about, Mr. Thomas Hiram Stanley, a member of the Mississippi Normal College's (now USM) inaugural class in 1912, and graduated in 1915. Mr. Stanley was an executive with the Royal Crown Cola Company, and was active in numerous other business and civic concerns, primarily in Columbus, Georgia. Mr. Stanley's wife, the former Bonnie Lucile Martin, was a 1916 graduate of Mississippi Normal College. Mr. Stanley died in 1974, and Mrs. Bonnie Stanley died on February 5, 2000.

The collection includes:

1. Copies of five addresses by Thomas Hiram Stanley (1962, 1965, undated).
2. Ideas for a commencement address at Mississippi College (1959).
3. Copy of a citation awarding the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from Mississippi College to Thomas Hiram Stanley (1973).
4. Dedication program for Stanley Lecture Hall at Columbus College (May 13, 1975).
5. Career highlights of Thomas Hiram Stanley (ca. 1986).
6. Newspaper clippings about Thomas Hiram Stanley.
7. Thirteen picture postcards, at least eleven of which were taken on the Mississippi Normal College campus (ca. 1912-1915).
8. Thomas Hiram Stanley's Diploma and Penmanship Certificate from Mississippi Normal College (1915).
9. Bonnie Lucile Martin's Diploma from Mississippi Normal College (1916).
