Collection Title: Skilton (Lewis E. & Albertine M.) Papers Accession Number: AM01-111 Dates: ca. 1938 - 1949 Volume: .25 cubic foot. Given By: Paul C. Cartwright Copyright: This collection may be protected from unauthorized copying by the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code). Form of Material: Primarily, correspondence between PFC Lewis Eugene Skilton and his wife, Albertine Mason Skilton. Mrs. Skilton was a resident of Hattiesburg during the early 1940s, and later was employed at Keesler Field in Biloxi, as a dental assistant. The letters were written before and during the Skiltons' marriage, and date from approximately 1942 to 1949. The collection also contains several letters to Albertine Mason from friends (1940-1941), and letters addressed to both the Skiltons (ca. 1943-1945). Other items in the collection pertain to Mrs. Skilton's tenure at Keesler Field and PFC Skilton's military service. In addition, there are three wallet size, black and white photographs of Albertine Skilton, and one 8 x 10 color photograph of PFC and Mrs. Skilton. |
