Biographical/Historical Sketch:

John Weston, the author of these letters, was a resident of Reading, Massachusetts, in the 1840's. He was compiling a pamphlet on the Weston family ancestry and was corresponding with numerous relatives and individuals named Weston. No other biographical/historical information is available on John Weston.

Scope and Content:

This collection consists of two letters written by John Weston, dated June 16 and November 24, 1845, along with a page of genealogical information on the Weston family and related lines.

The letter dated June 16, 1845, was written to Gersham B. Weston of Duxbury, Massachusetts, and includes a listing of Weston family names obtained from Commer Weston of Plymouth. The letter dated November 24, 1845, was written to Ezra Weston of Boston, Massachusetts, and contains the text of a letter John Weston had received from Edmund Weston of Randolph, Vermont. The third item in the collection is a copy of Weston and related family genealogical information written by Thomas Weston of Randolph, Vermont; it is undated.
