Form of Material: Photocopies of Ms. Gracie Hawthorne's Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission file in the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, including reports of her civil rights activities; a telephone list; lists of members of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP); member list and newsletter pertaining to the Young Democratic Clubs of Mississippi; and a copy of "Mississippi Newsletter" (July 14, 1967). Also included are copies of MDAH documents advising persons whose names appear in Sovereignty Commission files of their right to have their names deleted from those files. Ms. Hawthorne, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was active in the civil rights movement in Mississippi as a teenager during the 1960s.
