Form of Material: Newspaper articles published in The Stonewall County Courier (Aspermont, Texas) on December 13, 1990, that recount the experiences of Gary L. Carr, an oil drilling supervisor, who was captured in Kuwait on August 2, 1990, and held hostage in Iraq until December 7, 1990. One of the articles entitled "Iraq Frees Hostages; Carr Family Reunited" records Mr. Carr's return to his home in Aspermont, Texas. The second article entitled "Gary Carr's Diary Details Months of Hell As An Iraqi Human Shield" is a copy of the diary kept by Gary Carr during his captivity. In the diary, Carr records his feelings about his situation, his family, his captors, his fellow hostages, and President George Bush's handling of the matter. |
