Collection Title: Gulf Hills, Mississippi, Photograph Album Accession Number: AM07-22 Inclusive Dates: 1927-1934 Extent: circa 1926 Given By: Ray Bellande Copyright: This collection may be protected from unauthorized copying by the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code). Form of Material: An album of photographs taken by Alfred A. Heldt, who was employed by Branigar Brothers of Chicago during the development of their Gulf Hills community in Jackson County, Mississippi, in the mid 1920s. The community included an eighteen-hole golf course, a business area, and large home sites, and was originally planned as a winter retreat and/or retirement destination for wealthy northerners. Photographs in the album portray the gold course, clubhouse, and other scenic views of the property. Also included is an especially nice image of the train depot at nearby Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
