Copyright: This collection may be protected from unauthorized copying by the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code). Form of Material: Photocopies and transcripts of letters written by P.H. Craven to his mother. The letters written between April 20, 1861 and August 14, 1862 discuss Craven's service with the 19th Virginia Regiment, Army of Northern Virginia, in such locales as Harper's Ferry, Culpepper Court House, Richmond, Fairfax Court House, and camps near Mechanicsville, Yorktown, and the Chickahominy River. Other letters, dated 1859 and 1865, were written from Franklin, Virginia. The original letters are in the private collection of Mrs. Susan Kinlaw; they were edited and transcribed with her permission by Judge Robert G. Evans and Mrs. Patricia M. Finley. |
