How do I borrow (check out) a book or other item?You must have a current USM ID card (student, faculty, and staff) or alumni borrowing card to check out library materials. In Cook Library, there are two circulation desks. The main circulation desk is located next to the main entrance to the building. All circulating items located in the stacks should be checked out or borrowed from the main circulation desk. The Education Resources Center (ERC) has its own circulation desk used exclusively for the items in that collections. The Special Collections housed in McCain Library & Archives are all non-circulating. Nothing may be borrowed from McCain Library.
