Legal materials are generally located on the first floor of Cook Library in Information Services, InfoServ, and on the fourth floor in the general collection, Stacks. Some older materials are on Microfiche, in the Reading Room on the second floor.

Citators There are numerous types of federal and state citators, including citators for the regional Reporter services. Shepard's publishes many of these. Citators determine the validity and/or history of a case or statute. Case citations give parallel citations (if any), a history of the case (appeals), cite periodical literature, citations in ALR, and other cases that have interpreted or mentioned the case. Statute citations give parallel or session law citations, amendments and repeals or additions. The Dictionary of legal abbreviations used in American law books InfoServ KF 246 .B46 1985 may be helpful if you are unsure about abbreviations used in citations.
