Finding Biographical Information

Printer-friendly version

Getting Started

The process of locating biographies begins by noting important information about the individual or individuals being researched. Questions to consider include the following:

1) What type of work is attributed to this person or makes this person well known?
2) During what general time period would this person have been born and/or died?
3) Are there any middle names, initials, etc. that could help you identify the person that you seek from a list? (particularly if the person has a common name such as John Smith)

Knowing the answers to any or all of the above questions can help you determine that you have found information on the correct person and not simply for someone with the same or a similar name.
