Southern Miss Gulf Coast Library Commemorates Women’s History Month

Southern Miss Gulf Coast Library commemorates Women’s History Month throughout the month of March with an exhibit honoring Mississippi women of achievement. Display cases on the both the first and second floors are filled with information on distinguished scholars, writers and other prominent Mississippians.

The display, executed by Kathie Farrell, Media Specialist, highlights women instrumental in making significant changes in such areas as the women’s suffrage movement, civil rights, education media, literature, philanthropy and the sciences.

These women with diverse backgrounds and accomplishments include, among others, Robin and Sally Ann Roberts, Osceola McCarty, Ruby Bridges, Fanny Cooke, Natasha Trethewey and Dr. Frances Lucas.

Books related to topics are on display and are available for check out.

Items will be on display until March 31, 2014.
