The University of Southern Mississippi Libraries Science Café, Musical Minds, will be held Monday, March 26, 2012, 6-7:30 p.m. in Cook Library Art Gallery (LIB 105A), located next to Starbucks.

Can the power of music make the brain come alive? This Science Café will focus on music’s strange, surprising and still unexplained power over the brain. The discussion will be led by Dr. David J. Echevarria, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Director of the Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory.

A Science Cafes casual meeting place, plain language, and inclusive conversation create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for people who may have no science background. Each meeting is organized around an interesting scientific topic where a scientist gives a brief presentation and shows a short video clip to kick off the discussion. The events are free and open to the public. For more information please contact Tracy Englert (601.266.6396).
