Using items from the members of the Student Veterans of America, a veterans and military exhibit is currently on display at the Gulf Coast Library at the Gulf Coast Campus in Long Beach, Miss.

The exhibit features items such as medals, unit patches and challenge coins. A flag flown over Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002 is on display on the second floor of the library. This flag was presented to Mary Funk, coordinator of student success in the Gulf Coast Office of Admissions, during her military service. Additional items on display include uniforms from various military branches and gear used in chemical and biological warfare. Karen Glendenning, president of Student Veterans of America, provided her Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Award and photos taken during her tour of duty.

Student Veterans of America is a national advocacy organization that provides resources and support for student veterans to help them succeed in post-secondary programs and contribute to civilian society in meaningful ways. The Student Veterans of America at Southern Miss on the Gulf Coast meets on the second Monday of each month from 5-6 p.m. in the newly created Green Zone housed in the modular unit southeast of Holloway Complex.
