Friends of University Libraries Annual Meeting and Author Talk

The Friends of University Libraries invites you to join us for our annual membership meeting Thursday, April 26, 2012. The meeting will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church beginning at 6:30 p.m. Susan Haltom, author of One Writer’s Garden: Eudora Welty’s Home Place will be the guest speaker for the evening.

The annual membership meeting will include general information about The Friends of University Libraries along with annual reports of officers and committees. Also, recognition will be given to new officers and lifetime members. The meeting is open to all current and prospective members.

Susan Haltom is a garden designer and preservation and maintenance coordinator of the Eudora Welty garden. She has published in Mississippi Magazine,Old House Journal, and Magnolia, the journal of the Southern Garden Society.

One Writer’s Garden is the story of an iconic American writer and her relationship with her garden. The story begins during the first boom in American home gardening and unfolds against the most extraordinary events of the early twentieth century. The book is richly illustrated with never-published archival images and stunning new color photographs of the restored Welty garden.
