The Southern Miss Gulf Coast Library on the Gulf Park campus presents “Flurries, Abstract Paintings by Dave Jones.” The exhibit is on display on the second floor of the library through January and may be viewed during regular library hours. The public is invited to an artist reception on Wednesday, November 20, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Jones has been drawing and painting since he was 12 years old, when he first saw an abstract painting by Jasper Johns. Jones says, "I love abstract art, because when it’s good, it can put the viewer in touch with who they are beyond their culture, psychology, history or personality."

He has taught drawing and painting to “youth at risk” in the Mississippi Delta and has trained public school teachers how to teach their students art.

Over the past 35 years, Jones has shown his work in approximately 70 one-man and group gallery shows and has also been on the Mississippi Arts Commission Artist Roster. His work is in both private and corporate contemporary art collections around the world.

All pieces in the exhibit are available for purchase.
