football game program from 1936. Large football with a football player running with ball. Text reads Miss. Teachers vs. Spring Hlll, October 30, 1936. To celebrate the autumn season, Special Collections at Southern Miss presents the exhibit “Fall into Special Collections.” The exhibit features children’s books, original artwork, Southern Miss football ephemera, and spooky items.

In Mississippi, fall is a time for football, pumpkin-flavored coffee, and winterizing summer dresses with a cardigan. Even though the season isn’t quite as striking (or cold) as it is in other regions of the country, Mississippians still look forward to Halloween, local festivals, and the break from the sweltering summer heat. This exhibit highlights items that exemplify this time of year and the “feeling” of the pre-Christmas season.

“Fall into Special Collections” is available Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in McCain Library and Archives Room 305 until December 1.
