The Southern Miss Gulf Coast Library on the Gulf Park campus presents “Art in Glass, Glass Artwork by Alicia Hendricks.” The exhibit is on display on the first floor of the library through December and may be viewed during regular library hours. The public is invited to an artist reception on Wednesday, November 20, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Since 2016, Hendricks has been designing fused glass jewelry, eventually broadening her creative expertise to include glass dishes and other fused glass objects. Currently on exhibit are collections of wind chimes, dishes, and pendants for necklaces.

Hendricks moved to Gulfport in 1981 but did not begin exploring her artistic ability until around 2009. With the help of her husband, she creates patterns for her precise pieces, some of which require three kilns to fire because they are so large. She sells her pieces at local festivals along the Gulf Coast.

“Art in Glass” is Hendricks’ first long term exhibit. All pieces in the exhibit are available for purchase.
