WHERE
Orientations meet in the lobby of the USM Gulf Coast Library. Workshops meet on the second floor
in the Library Instruction Room 213.
We offer library instruction tailored to your class or discipline and the following general workshops:
ORIENTATION
Provides a physical orientation to the facilities and services of the USM Gulf Coast Library.
INFORMATION ONLINE
Instruction in using electronic library resources including searching the online
catalog and electronic databases, reference services including online reference assistance, document delivery,
and remote access.
ACCESSING LIBRARY RESOURCES OFF-CAMPUS
Hands-on training session providing instructions for accessing
electronic library resources off-campus. Searching and using these electronic resources will also be covered
including electronic reserves, databases, e-journals, and ebooks.
GRADUATE RESEARCH WORKSHOP
Review of available online resources including JSTOR, Dissertation Abstracts, remote access, new features in the library catalog, and electronic databases in your subject area, and Campus to Campus and Interlibrary Loan.
LIBRARY ACCESS FOR DISTANCE EDUCATION COURSES
Hands-on training session providing instruction in using
electronic library resources and accessing electronic databases from home. Topics covered will include searching
the online catalog and electronic databases, reference services including online reference assistance, e-journals, Web resources, and document delivery. Participants will be given step-by-step instructions for accessing these resources off-campus.
