Tax Deductions

All monetary donations to USM Libraries are normally tax deductible. To speed the process, please make checks payable to "The USM Foundation," which is a 501(C) (3) organization. The USM Foundation will send you confirmation of your donations. Since special situations sometimes arise, it is always wise to check with your tax professional concerning tax deductions.

Gifts in kind are treated differently from donations of money. For example, a gift of rare books is certainly welcome, but USM Libraries is not allowed to determine the value of the books. A qualified third party must appraise such items to determine their value.
