Cook Library Entrance to Temporarily Move to South Side of Building on February 26

On Wednesday, February 26, the entrance of Cook Library will temporarily move from the north side of the building to the south side, across the courtyard from McCain Library and Archives. The entrance change is to accommodate renovations for the north half of the first floor. All students, faculty and staff will enter the building from the south entrance, the former original entrance to Cook Library.

The north half of Cook Library currently houses the Circulation and Reserves Desk, Research Assistance Desk, and iTech Help Desk, as well as personnel for these units. Offices for the research services librarians and the Student Advisement Center are also located on the north side of the building.

During the renovation of these spaces, faculty, staff and services will be temporarily relocated as follows:
• The Circulation Desk and Research Assistance Desk will combine to a shared service desk at the south end of the Learning Commons effective at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26.
• The iTech Help Desk will relocate to LIB 109J (Curriculum Materials Center) and will be open for walk-in traffic on Wednesday, February 26. Patrons should enter from the door on the south end of LIB109J, across from the Title IX office.
• Cook Library’s instruction classroom will move from LIB 110 to LIB 207.
• Research Services librarians will temporarily relocate from LIB 106 to LIB 203 during the week of March 2-6.
• The Student Advisement Center will move to LIB 203, their permanent home, during the week of March 2-6.
• The Speaking Center, Writing Center, Starbucks, and Title IX will remain accessible in their present locations.

The second sequence of the renovation is nearing completion and includes the creation of a new home for the Student Advisement Center. The Student Advisement Center will be located in the northeast corner of the second floor in what was formerly the School of Library and Information Science. Work on these spaces is expected to finish at the end of February.

We appreciate your patience during all of these changes and will continue to strive to avoid as many disruptions to library services as possible. If you have any questions, please contact Cook Library at 601.266.4241.
