Cat Count (1981) was originally a poem written and illustrated by Ms. Lewin for Humpty Dumpty Magazine. An editor at Dodd, Mead & Company suggested that she expand it into a picture book. The collection contains a copy of the original poem found in Humpty Dumpty Magazine, an original dummy with ink sketched illustrations, final original illustrations, master galley, master dust jacket, and a final dummy with paste-ups.
